Music

The Striano (a combination of “strings” and “piano”) Piano Trio began as the Striano Piano Quartet in the mid-1990s. With the loss of violist and founding member Burt Fisch in 2011, the remaining members of the group decided to continue as a trio. They have played venues such as Palomar College, Poway Center for the Arts, San Luis Rey Mission, First Night Escondido and many San Diego Public Libraries, as well as schools and retirement communities. The Striano Piano Trio plays a broad range of compositions by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvořák, Schubert, and others, including full piano trios as well as light classics and pops arranged for piano trio.

Maya Ginsberg, violin Maya Ginsberg studied violin performance at the University of Oregon and holds a B.A. in music from Skidmore College and an M.A. in music from San Diego State University. She is an active member of the North Coast Symphony Orchestra, performs with Eliana Strings, and is the violinist of the Striano Piano Trio. Maya is a lecturer at San Diego State University, the violin clinician at Mount Carmel High School, and teaches violin privately in the San Diego North County area.	Joseph Valent, piano Joseph Valent, is a conductor, pianist, organist and composer-arranger who began making music in 1959 at the age of four in his hometown of Watkins Glen, New York. He had his first regular church music job by age ten, and has since worked in churches, schools, universities, orchestras, opera companies, theater companies and even a ballet company, performing and conducting music of all different styles. Joseph is the Organist and Director of the Contemporary Ensemble at the Church of St.Timothy.	Carol Tolbert, cello Carol Tolbert began her career playing with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra when she was sixteen. She is currently a member of the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra. Carol is involved with numerous chamber music groups and is an original member of the Striano Quartet.
